Surface Pro 2 ready to Launch October 22nd
October 22 is not only D-Day for an array of new Nokia products, including the Lumia 1520 smartphone and 2520 tablet, and for Apple’s fresh iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2. It’s also when Microsoft has promised the first Surface Pro 2 units will be shipped, with Windows RT-based models following a couple of days later.
But apparently, that won’t be the case after all for the 256 and 512 GB Surface Pro 2 models. Priced at $1,299 and $1,799 respectively (with no keyboards or covers included), the two are listed on Microsoft’s online store as shipping “by December 15”.
Of course, “by” December 15 doesn’t have to mean on December 15, but it most likely doesn’t mean October 22 or 25 either. Or November 1, or 15, for that matter. At the same time, chances are folks that pre-ordered the two high-capacity, high-quality Surface tabs already will get them fairly soon, as the delay may have been caused exactly by unexpectedly strong initial demand.
Meanwhile, the “low-cost”, 64 gis Windows 8.1-running 10.6-inch tablet might actually arrive on your doorsteps earlier, on October 21, with the 128 GB flavor slated for a release on the 25th.
Finally, the tab known simply as the Surface 2, powered by Windows RT 8.1 and up for grabs for $449 or $549, is to land on October 25, so ten short days from now.
